§ 86b AufenthG: Auslesen von Daten aus Pässen und Schweizer Personalausweisen durch Luftfahrtunternehmen

Reading data from passports and Swiss identity cards by airlines (§ 86b AufenthG)
During digital passenger handling (digitale Fluggastabfertigung), the data in your identity document is read electronically. This section allows that.
Airlines and the bodies listed in § 19e para. 8 of the Aviation Act (Luftverkehrsgesetz) may read the personal data listed in § 19e para. 3 and 4 of the Aviation Act for this purpose.
They may read that data both from the machine-readable zone and from the chip of:
- an identity card that Switzerland has issued to its nationals,
- a passport,
- a passport substitute (Passersatz).
The requirements of § 19e of the Aviation Act apply. § 19e para. 3 sentence 3 and para. 5 of the Aviation Act applies accordingly.
Luftfahrtunternehmen sowie die in § 19e Absatz 8 des Luftverkehrsgesetzes genannten Stellen dürfen zum Zweck der digitalen Fluggastabfertigung die in § 19e Absatz 3 und 4 des Luftverkehrsgesetzes aufgeführten personenbezogenen Daten sowohl aus der maschinenlesbaren Zone als auch aus dem Chip eines Personalausweises, den die Schweiz ihren Staatsangehörigen ausgestellt hat, oder eines Passes oder eines Passersatzes unter den Voraussetzungen des § 19e des Luftverkehrsgesetzes auslesen. § 19e Absatz 3 Satz 3 und Absatz 5 des Luftverkehrsgesetzes gilt entsprechend.
