How are you advised and assessed for an integration course?
You want to learn German? During the advice and assessment session, you will find out which integration course suits you. Your current language level will be determined.
You will also receive information about possible funding from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). The BAMF may cover the costs of your integration course.
If you want to apply for funding, you will receive support with the application under the Integration Course Regulation.
There are no special requirements for the advice and assessment. Everyone can use this service.

Good to know
If the immigration authority has obligated you to attend the integration course, you can apply to the BAMF for a subsidy for travel costs. The authority decides whether you receive the subsidy.
Ausländer, die von der Ausländerbehörde zur Kursteilnahme verpflichtet werden, können bei Bedarf vom BAMF einen Zuschuss zu den Fahrtkosten bekommen (§ 4 Abs. 4 Satz 2 IntV).

The course provider accepts applications for cost exemption. If you receive benefits under SGB II or XII, you can apply to the BAMF for an exemption from the cost contribution.
Der Kursträger nimmt auch Anträge auf Kostenbefreiung entgegen (§ 7 Abs. 1 S. 3 IntV). Der Antrag auf Befreiung von der Kostenbeteiligung des BAMF wird seitens der Kursträger nur auf Bitten oder wenn offensichtlich ist, dass der Ausländer Leistungen nach dem SGB II oder XII bezieht, ausgehändigt.

The course provider must normally start your integration course no later than six weeks after your registration. You do not have to wait long for the course to begin.
Der Kursträger ist verpflichtet, den Kurs im Regelfall nicht später als sechs Wochen nach Anmeldung zu beginnen (vgl. § 7 Abs. 4 S. 2 IntV).
