For the entire Altenburger Land district, a central immigration office at the district administration office (Landratsamt) is responsible - it is located in the main building at Lindenaustraße 9 in Altenburg. There are also branch offices in Altenburg and in Schmölln. So there are no separate municipal immigration offices in the individual towns; all residence-related matters in the district go through this one authority.
