Bergheim is one of the larger towns in the Rhein-Erft district that maintains its own Ausländerbehörde (immigration office). The Bergheim city administration (Department 4.2, Foreigners' Affairs) is only responsible for foreign nationals who are registered as residents within the Bergheim municipal area. If you live in another municipality of the Rhein-Erft district such as Bedburg, Brühl, Elsdorf, Frechen, Hürth, Pulheim, or Wesseling, the responsible authority is not Bergheim but the foreigners' office (Ausländeramt) of the Rhein-Erft district. The town of Kerpen also has its own Ausländerbehörde.
