The municipal Foreigners' Authority is part of the Citizens' Office (Bürgeramt) of the city of Bielefeld and is based at a central location. It is responsible for everyone who lives in Bielefeld or wants to move there. For skilled workers and their family members, there is a dedicated Service Point for Businesses and Skilled Workers (Servicestelle Unternehmen und Fachkräfte) with separate access. Asylum matters do not fall within municipal responsibility but are handled through the state initial reception facility (Landeserstaufnahmeeinrichtung) in Bochum.
