The immigration office (Ausländerbüro) of the city of Bochum is located in the town hall at Willy-Brandt-Platz and is responsible for the entire Bochum city area. For international skilled workers and companies there is also the Welcome Office Bochum as a dedicated point of contact on Universitätsstraße - a joint offering by the city, the IHK Mittleres Ruhrgebiet (Chamber of Industry and Commerce), the employment agency (Agentur für Arbeit) and the Handwerkskammer Dortmund (Chamber of Skilled Crafts). So initial orientation and advice on employment run through the Welcome Office, while the actual residence-law applications are processed by the immigration office.
