The Ausländeramt Bonn (Foreigners' Office Bonn) is part of the Citizen Services (Bürgerdienste) of the Federal City of Bonn and is responsible for the Bonn city area. It is not split into separate, independent authorities, but it works with specialized teams: the "Team Work" bundles all residence permits for the purpose of gainful employment (employment, self-employment, job seeking) and has its own email address. For employees of international institutions and organizations based in Bonn, there is a dedicated office for international institutions with its own contact persons. Naturalization runs through a dedicated citizenship office (Staatsangehörigkeitsstelle) with a separate application process. For entry for the purpose of gainful employment from abroad, Bonn is not responsible; instead, the Central Office for Skilled Worker Immigration NRW (Zentralstelle Fachkräfteeinwanderung NRW) at the Cologne District Government (Bezirksregierung Köln) handles it.
