Landkreis Göttingen operates two locations of its immigration and citizenship office (Fachdienst Ausländer- und Staatsangehörigkeitsangelegenheiten): one in Göttingen (Carl-Zeiss-Straße 5) and one in Osterode am Harz (Herzberger Straße 5). Which location is responsible for you depends on your municipality of residence within the district. Important: residents of the city of Göttingen are served by the city's own Ausländerbehörde at Hiroshimaplatz 1-4, not by the district office. For the accelerated skilled-worker procedure (beschleunigtes Fachkräfteverfahren), responsibility is determined by the location of the workplace — that is, where the skilled worker is to be employed.
