In Kreis Gütersloh there are two separate Ausländerbehörden: The Ausländerbehörde of Kreis Gütersloh (Kreishaus, Herzebrocker Straße 140) is responsible for all municipalities in the district except the city of Gütersloh. Anyone registered with a residence in the city of Gütersloh should contact the municipal Ausländerbehörde Gütersloh (responsible for immigration matters of all persons living there). The two authorities operate independently of each other, both organisationally and in terms of their remit.
