The Ausländeramt Kaufbeuren is the sole immigration authority for the independent city (kreisfreie Stadt) of Kaufbeuren and is responsible for all foreign nationals registered there. Anyone living in the Ostallgäu district (outside the city limits) should contact the Landratsamt Ostallgäu. Both departments — immigration matters (room 101N) and nationality law/naturalisation (room 107N) — are located in the same building at Graben 3.
