The Ausländerbehörde (immigration office) of the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis is based in the Kreishaus in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, but it is not responsible for the city of Ludwigshafen itself — the independent city of Ludwigshafen has its own, separate immigration office. Instead, the district administration is responsible for the towns and municipalities in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis around Ludwigshafen, such as Schifferstadt, Böhl-Iggelheim, Limburgerhof, Mutterstadt, and Bobenheim-Roxheim, as well as the Verbandsgemeinden (collective municipalities) Dannstadt-Schauernheim, Lambsheim-Heßheim, Maxdorf, Rheinauen, and Römerberg-Dudenhofen.
