In Pirmasens there are two responsible immigration authorities: The Stadtverwaltung Pirmasens (Ausländeramt) is responsible for people who have their residence within the city of Pirmasens. The Kreisverwaltung Südwestpfalz is responsible for people who live in the Landkreis Südwestpfalz (i.e. outside the city limits). Both authorities are located at the same site in Pirmasens but are organisationally separate.
