The Ausländerbehörde of Vorpommern-Rügen district is located at a single site in Stralsund and is responsible for the entire district. In addition, there is the Welcome Center Vorpommern-Rügen, which serves as the central point of contact for skilled workers, students, and newcomers from Germany and abroad, and refers people to the Ausländerbehörde and other regional offices as needed.

Yes, a digital application route exists for six common procedures: residence permit for family reasons, for vocational training or employment, amendment of conditions attached to a residence title, settlement permit, and residence for EU and EEA citizens. Application documents and photos can be submitted in encrypted form; the data flows directly into the office's case processing system. The electronic residence permit (eAT) itself requires a personal visit, as fingerprints must be taken on site.

The office expressly notes extended processing times due to increased application volumes. Applications are processed in the order they are received. For naturalisation applications, the office states that processing can take up to one year. Sending multiple enquiries about the same case does not speed up processing.
