In the Main-Tauber district there are three separate immigration authorities: the immigration offices of the two major district towns Wertheim and Bad Mergentheim are each responsible only for their own municipal area. The immigration department within the legal and public order office of the district administration (Landratsamt) in Tauberbischofsheim is responsible for all other municipalities in the district. Anyone living in the municipal area of Wertheim or Bad Mergentheim therefore contacts the relevant town administration directly, not the Landratsamt.
