Waiblingen is a large district town (große Kreisstadt) and operates its own Ausländerbehörde at the Bürgerbüro (Kurze Straße 33). This municipal authority is responsible for all persons with their primary residence in Waiblingen. For residents of the other municipalities in Rems-Murr-Kreis (e.g. Kernen, Korb, Schwaikheim), the Ausländeramt of the Landratsamt Rems-Murr-Kreis is responsible; it also has offices in Waiblingen (Rötestraße 17) as well as in Backnang and Schorndorf.
