The Ausländerbehörde of the Hansestadt Wesel is responsible exclusively for people whose primary residence is within the city of Wesel. Anyone living elsewhere in the district (for example in Alpen, Hamminkeln, Hünxe, Schermbeck, Sonsbeck, Xanten, or Rheinberg) should contact the separate Ausländerbehörde of the Kreis Wesel. The cities of Dinslaken and Moers also operate their own municipal Ausländerbehörden. All immigration and naturalization authority functions for residents of Wesel are handled by the Rathaus der Hansestadt Wesel.
