Winnenden is a Große Kreisstadt (major district town) and operates its own Ausländerbehörde, which is integrated into the city administration's citizen services office. Residents of the city of Winnenden should therefore contact the municipal authority (Torstraße 10) and not the Ausländeramt of the Landratsamt Rems-Murr-Kreis in Waiblingen. The Landratsamt is responsible for the other municipalities in the Rems-Murr-Kreis that do not have their own Ausländerbehörde.
