Benefits when a third party has a sponsorship obligation
(1) Basic rule: If another person has committed to covering your living expenses (under § 68 para. 1 sentence 1 of the Residence Act), you do not receive benefits under the AsylbLG. However, the office covers the costs for:
- Illness
- Disability
- Need for care
This only applies if state law provides for it.
(2) Subsidy for the sponsor: If the sponsoring person has paid for you for at least 6 months, they can receive a monthly subsidy. The subsidy can be up to double the amount under § 3a paragraph 1 AsylbLG. Requirement: There must be exceptional circumstances regarding the sponsor.
