§ 30 AufenthV: Exemption for transit and through-transport
This text was rewritten into plain language (B1 level) automatically and may contain errors. Only the official German statute is authoritative — when in doubt, read the original text below or consult a lawyer.
Foreign nationals transiting through Germany from another Schengen state do not need a residence title under certain conditions. The stay must not exceed 3 days.
This applies in two cases:
- The foreign national is transiting through Germany on the basis of an agreement between states on transit.
- The foreign national is being transported through Germany on the basis of an agreement or with the consent of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (Bundesministerium des Innern). In this case, the accompanying supervisory personnel are also exempt.
