§ 32b StAG: Inquiry with the Public Prosecutor
This text was rewritten into plain language (B1 level) automatically and may contain errors. Only the official German statute is authoritative — when in doubt, read the original text below or consult a lawyer.
If you were convicted of certain crimes (e.g., incitement to hatred, bodily harm, property damage, arson) that would normally not be considered during naturalization, the citizenship authority still examines more closely.
The authority asks the public prosecutor whether antisemitic, racist, or inhumane motives were established in the conviction. The prosecutor must provide this information immediately.
If such motives were established, this can prevent naturalization (under Section 12a(1) sentence 2).
