No new distribution decision required for reissuance

Has your residence permit under Section 24 expired? You still do not need a new distribution decision. The authority issues you the new residence permit with a residence regulation for Berlin.

Displacement is assumed without further review

You do not need to separately prove that you were displaced. For the eligible group of persons, the authority assumes this automatically. Only in the case of obvious evidence to the contrary will this be questioned.

Temporary protection applies until March 4, 2027

The EU Council has extended temporary protection multiple times. It currently applies until March 4, 2027. The original decision of March 4, 2022 remains unchanged.

How to apply

Go to the responsible authority and bring a valid identity document

Your application will be processed on site. This takes approximately 20 to 60 minutes

Good to know

After the granting of your residence permit, you must continue to live in Berlin. You cannot freely choose your place of residence. The residence regulation under Section 12a also applies after the title is granted.

Nach § 12a Abs. 1 S. 1 u. 2 unterliegt der Betroffene in der Regel auch nach der Erteilung weiter einer Wohnsitzregelung und kann seinen Wohnsitz weiterhin nicht frei wählen

The authority MUST grant you the residence permit. This is not a discretionary decision. You have a statutory right to the granting for at least the duration specified in the EU decision.

You need neither a visa nor proof of your livelihood. The general granting requirements do not apply to you. This makes the procedure simpler.

Die allgemeinen Erteilungsvoraussetzungen des § 5 Abs. 1 und 2 finden auf diesen Personenkreis gemäß § 5 Abs. 3 S. 1 keine Anwendung.
