How do you apply for the payment of your benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act?
You have been granted benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (AsylbLG)? Then you need to make an appointment for the payment of benefits.
The benefits cover your essential needs: food, accommodation and heating, clothing, healthcare, household goods and consumables, required and urgent medical services in case of illness and required services during pregnancy and childbirth. You also receive benefits under the Education and Participation Package.
In addition, a cash amount is granted to cover personal needs of daily life.
Requirements
Who qualifies?
- You have already been granted benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (AsylbLG). You are actually present in the federal territory and hold a specific residence title: residence permit under Section 23 para. 1, Section 24, Section 25 para. 4 sentence 1 or Section 25 para. 5 of the Residence Act (provided that toleration status (Duldung) has not been suspended for 18 months), toleration status (Duldung) under Section 60a para. 1 or para. 2 of the Residence Act, or your stay is legally deemed tolerated under Section 71a para. 3 of the Asylum Procedure Act.

Good to know
Have you received basic benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act for 36 months? Then the social welfare office must grant you increased benefits under SGB XII. The requirement is that you have not influenced your stay in an abusive manner.
Gemäß § 2 AsylbLG ist Ausländern, die über eine Dauer von 36 Monaten Leistungen nach § 3 AsylbLG erhalten haben, erhöhte Hilfe nach dem SGB XII zu gewähren, wenn diese die Dauer des Aufenthaltes nicht rechtsmissbräuchlich selbst beeinflusst haben.

Do you receive child benefit? The law does not consider this as claiming public funds. A child supplement is also harmless for your residence status.

Do you have a residence obligation? Then you only receive your benefits at your assigned place of residence. This is intended to ensure a fair distribution of social costs.
Mit der Wohnsitzauflage soll eine gerechte Verteilung der Sozialkosten zwischen den Ländern gewährleistet werden, indem Sozialleistungen lediglich an dem Wohnort erbracht werden.
