When can you have your Schengen visa extended?
You have a Schengen visa (category C) for a short stay of up to 90 days? An extension is only possible in exceptional cases.
Your visa may be extended if new circumstances have arisen after your entry. These include force majeure, humanitarian reasons or serious personal reasons. An extension is also possible if you entered late and could not fully use your visa.

Your Schengen visa can be extended as a national D visa for up to 6 months. It then only applies to Germany. You must not travel to other Schengen states with it.

Do you have a multiple-entry visa? It remains valid even if your stay is extended. However, note that re-entry is only possible 180 days after your last departure.
