Ordinance on Residence, Section 45c: Fee for reissuing a document
Do you need a new document under Section 78 (1) of the Residence Act? Then this costs money.
The fee for reissuing the document is 67 euros.
You must pay this fee in five cases:
- Your previous passport or passport-substitute document has expired.
- The technical period of validity of your card has expired. Or: other details on your document have changed. Which details these can be is set out in Section 78 (1) sentence 3 numbers 1 to 18 of the Residence Act.
- You have lost your document under Section 78 (1) of the Residence Act.
- The chip in your document no longer works technically.
- You have submitted an application under Section 105b sentence 2 of the Residence Act.
Exception for a defective chip (case 4): If the chip in your document is broken, you sometimes do not have to pay the fee. This applies if you did not cause the defect yourself. This means: you did not use or handle the document improperly. Then the fee for reissuing the document does not apply.
