This rule tells you: How much does a visa cost?
Fees for Schengen visas and airport transit visas
Do you want to get or extend a Schengen visa or an airport transit visa? Then a different rule applies to the fee: Regulation (EC) No. 810/2009.
Some people do not have to pay a fee for their visa. This applies to:
- the spouse of a German citizen
- the registered life partner of a German citizen
- minor, unmarried (that means not married) children of a German citizen
- the parents of a minor German child
These people are exempt from the fee.
Fees for the national visa (category D)
Fixed fees apply to the national visa, also called a category D visa.
Are you getting a national visa issued for the first time? Then it costs 75 euros. This also applies if you may enter the country several times with this visa.
Do you want to have your national visa extended? Then it costs 25 euros.
Do you have a Schengen visa and have you already been in Germany for more than 90 days with it? Are you having this Schengen visa extended as a national visa? Then it costs 60 euros. This special extension is set out in Section 6 (2) of the Residence Act.
