Residence Permits in the Old Document Format
If you have a residence permit in the old document format (Section 78a(1), sentence 1): You may apply for a new document with an electronic chip under Section 78. You must demonstrate a legitimate interest in the new document.
This also applies to holders of a residence permit under Section 4(1), sentence 2, numbers 2 to 4.
Inhaber eines nach § 78a Absatz 1 Satz 1 ausgestellten Aufenthaltstitels können ein eigenständiges Dokument mit elektronischem Speicher- und Verarbeitungsmedium nach § 78 beantragen, wenn sie ein berechtigtes Interesse an der Neuausstellung darlegen. Unbeschadet dessen können Inhaber eines Aufenthaltstitels nach § 4 Absatz 1 Satz 2 Nummer 2 bis 4 ein eigenständiges Dokument mit elektronischem Speicher- und Verarbeitungsmedium nach § 78 beantragen, wenn sie ein berechtigtes Interesse an der Neuausstellung darlegen.
