§ 12 Au pair employment

Au pair employment
Approval can be granted if you want to work as an au pair in a family. Requirements:
- You have basic knowledge of the German language
- You are under 27 years old
- The family speaks German as a native language
- The employment lasts no more than 1 year
Special rule: If German is spoken in the family as a family language (not native language), approval can also be granted. But in that case, you must not come from the host parents' home country.
Die Zustimmung kann für Personen mit Grundkenntnissen der deutschen Sprache erteilt werden, die unter 27 Jahre alt sind und in einer Familie, in der Deutsch als Muttersprache gesprochen wird, bis zu einem Jahr als Au-pair beschäftigt werden. Wird in der Familie Deutsch als Familiensprache gesprochen, kann die Zustimmung erteilt werden, wenn der oder die Beschäftigte nicht aus einem Heimatland der Gasteltern stammt.
