§ 37 Security Inquiry

The citizenship authorities transmit your personal data to the constitutional protection authorities when you apply for naturalization and are at least 16 years old.
The purpose is to investigate exclusion grounds under Section 11 sentence 1 nos. 1 and 2 (e.g., activities against the free democratic basic order).
The constitutional protection authorities inform the requesting authority immediately about their findings.
Die Staatsangehörigkeitsbehörden übermitteln den Verfassungsschutzbehörden zur Ermittlung von Ausschlussgründen nach § 11 Satz 1 Nummer 1 und 2 die bei ihnen gespeicherten personenbezogenen Daten der Antragsteller, die das 16. Lebensjahr vollendet haben. Die Verfassungsschutzbehörden unterrichten die anfragende Stelle unverzüglich nach Maßgabe der insoweit bestehenden besonderen gesetzlichen Verarbeitungsregelungen.
