§ 31 Employment during residence for reasons of international law, humanitarian or political grounds

If you have a residence permit for reasons of international law, humanitarian reasons, or political reasons: You do not need the approval of the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) to work. You are allowed to work without this approval.
This applies to residence permits issued under Section 5 of the Residence Act (Aufenthaltsgesetz). This includes, for example, residence permits for recognised refugees or people with subsidiary protection (supplementary protection status).
Die Erteilung der Erlaubnis zur Beschäftigung an Ausländerinnen und Ausländer mit einer Aufenthaltserlaubnis, die nach Abschnitt 5 des Aufenthaltsgesetzes erteilt worden ist, bedarf keiner Zustimmung der Bundesagentur für Arbeit.
