§ 47b AufenthG: Travel to the Country of Origin

This rule applies to you in three cases.

First case: You are entitled to asylum.

Second case: You have been granted international protection. This is regulated in Section 1(1) number 2 of the Asylum Act.

Third case: A deportation ban has been established for you. This can be a deportation ban under Section 60(5) of the Residence Act. It can also be a deportation ban under Section 60(7) of the Residence Act.

If one of these three cases applies to you, you must report a trip to your country of origin. This is mandatory. You must report the trip in every case.

You must state two things. First: that you are traveling to your country of origin. Second: the reason why you are traveling.

You must make this report before you start the trip. After that, it is too late.

Report the trip to your responsible immigration authority.

The immigration authority forwards your report. It sends it to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. This is stated in Section 8(1c) of the Asylum Act.

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees then checks whether it revokes your legal status. This means: the Federal Office checks whether you lose your protection status again. This applies to all three cases above: your recognition as entitled to asylum, your international protection, and the deportation ban established for you.
